At the Economic forum, there were around 50 Iraqi businessmen and around 200 representatives of Croatian companies.

The Head of the Special Mission of the Republic of Croatia in Iraq, ambassador Jerko Vukas stated that Iraq, despite the war destruction, has quality personnel and above all natural resources like oil and gas. The Ambassador mentioned that already 12 Croatian companies run business in Iraq and invited all of the Croatian businessmen to make contact with Iraqi companies, since many foreign companies already run their business in Iraq.

He also pointed out that the Special Mission of the Republic of Croatia in Iraq, as well as the Croatian House of Commerce in Iraq, which has been active since 2008, are at service to all Croatian businessmen interested, in accordance with policies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration on strengthening the economic diplomacy.

The participants of the Forum were also greeted by the Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy Dunja Konjevod, who stressed that the Chamber shall assist in every way in making new and sustaining existing contacts between Croatian and Iraqi companies in order to create a strong economic co–operation which is of interest to both sides.

At the end of the introductory part, a Memorandum of understanding was signed between the Croatian Chamber of Economy and Kurdistan Autonomous Region of Iraq, thus formalising the co–operation between the two institutions.

In the course of the next day, the representatives of Croatian companies will welcome the Iraqi businessmen in their premises in Zagreb, Varaždin, Karlovac and Ogulin.
