This manifestation was the central event in a series of activities organised in the framework of European Week, through which the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration inform Croatian citizens on Croatia’s accession to the EU. Activities are realised in co–operation with partners – Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Croatia, Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in the Republic of Croatia, since Spain is the holder of EU presidency, embassies of EU member states, non–governmental organisations and state administration bodies.

At the stands of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Delegation of the European Union, citizens were able to get free publications on Croatia’s EU accession and other promotional material. Information on life in the EU was also available on the stands of the EU member states, and a special programme for children was organised, including a painting workshop and a musical programme.

The 60 th anniversary of Schuman declaration by which the process of integration on the European continent was initiated, was also celebrated on Cvjetni trg.

This year, Europe Week is celebrated in all Croatian counties from 3 to 10 May. During visits to different counties and towns, many round tables and stands were organised for different target groups, where citizens could get information on the state of Croatia’s EU accession, but also on possibilities of local communities using EU pre–accession funds. There were also discussions on the future use of structural funds and Cohesion fund, once Croatia becomes an EU member state.

The President of Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović also visited the EU info stands on Cvjetni trg.
