State Secretary Božinović briefed his collocutor on the Decision of the Croatian Parliament on the participation of another twenty members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia in the peace operation in Afghanistan (ISAF). He expressed Croatia’s dedication to continue the NATO’s “Open Door” policy, as well as EU enlargement to all countries of south-eastern Europe. He said that including Bosnia and Herzegovina in the NATO membership Action plan sends a very good message of encouragement to all the countries in the region, and initiates the reform process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence McMillan thanked for Croatia’s contribution to the new NATO strategic concept and stressed that Croatia has a special place in NATO as a country that once used international security mechanisms, and today is able to pass on its experiences to others as an active participant in international peace missions. He praised Croatia’s constructive role in the south-eastern Europe region and showed interest for the course of Croatia’s EU negotiations.

Both sides assessed the bilateral co–operation as high quality and intensive.
