State Secretary Plenković informed the collocutors about the current status of the negotiations, stressing that this year is extremely important for Croatia as it wants to complete the technical part of the negotiations by its end. State Secretary Plenković thanked for the continuous support the Italian Republic is lending Croatia on its road to the EU membership.

In light of the 10th anniversary of the Zagreb Summit and the pending EU-South Eastern Europe ministerial meeting, to be held June 2nd in Sarajevo, the collocutors underlined the importance of keeping the region’s countries’ integration process high on the EU priority list.

MP Fassino reiterated Italy’s support for Croatia, pointing out the importance of European perspective for the other countries of South Eastern Europe, as well as the fact that the EU membership guarantees the stability and security of the whole region. In that regard, MP Fassino emphasized the need for determining the Action Plan with precise timetables and phases of accession of the countries of South Eastern Europe to the EU.

MP Fassino participated yesterday at the meeting “Current Events on the Western Balkans”, held in Zagreb and organized by the Croatian Parliament, its delegation at the Assembly of the Western European Union and the WEU Parliamentary Assembly.
