State Secretary Andrej Plenković received German Parliament’s EU Affairs Committee delegation

State Secretary Plenković talked with the EU Affairs Committee Chairman Gunther Krichbaum and the delegation he led about the progress of Croatia’s EU accession negotiations

State Secretary Plenković talked with the EU Affairs Committee Chairman Gunther Krichbaum and the delegation he led about the progress of Croatia’s EU accession negotiations. He pointed out that Croatia is in the final negotiation phase and is dedicatedly working to achieve the goal of completing the negotiations by end-2010, simultaneously conducting the necessary reforms. He pointed out the importance of the activities carried out as part of the communication strategy to inform the Croatian public about the advantages and challenges of membership, especially in light of the pending referendum.

Committee Chairman Gunther Krichbaum underlined the importance of the role played by the national parliaments, namely the committees on the EU affairs, in conducting the Accession Treaty ratification procedure. In that regard, he emphasised the strong and continuous support of both Germany and the EU Affairs Committee for Croatia’s EU accession, expressing his belief in the soon completion of the accession process.
