State Secretary Andrej Plenković met the Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Croatia, Jérôme Pasquier

State Secretary Plenković informed the Ambassador about the progress of accession negotiations emphasising the importance of support provided to Croatia by the French Republic. The upcoming intergovernmental conference on Croatia’s accession to the European Union, to be held in Brussels on 19 April, was also discussed.

Having confirmed that bilateral relations between the two countries are very good, the collocutors, in addition to the continuation of work on the Strategic Partnership between Croatia and France, stressed the importance of bilateral visits at the highest levels, in particular between the Presidents and Prime Ministers of the two countries.

They also discussed the Union for the Mediterranean meeting of environmental ministers to be held in Dubrovnik in the middle of the following week. The Government of the Republic of Croatia is the co organiser of this meeting together with the Kingdom of Spain on behalf of the European Union, and with the French Republic and the Arab Republic of Egypt, who are currently co-chairing the Union for the Mediterranean.

Ambassador Pasquier also announced that the Austrian-French Centre for Rapprochement in Europe from Vienna was planning to organise a conference in Zagreb in late April. The conference will focus on the Croatian accession process and the implemented reforms, and it will also be attended by Secretary Plenković. The collocutors agreed on the importance of the participation of the Republic of Croatia in the International Organisation of la Francophonie.
