While talking about Croatian accession negotiations for full membership of the European Union, State Secretary Plenković said that the Republic of Croatia has great expectations from the current Spanish, and the upcoming Belgian presidency of the European Union. In that context, he expressed the readiness of Croatia to complete the technical part of negotiations by the end of this year at both political and operational levels.
In addition to the completion of negotiations, State Secretary Plenković stressed that the future priorities are the preparation for the referendum on the European Union membership of Croatia planned for next year, and the completion of the drafting of the Treaty of Accession.
Ambassador de Schoutheete de Tervarent talked about the priorities of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union that will take place in the second half of this year, and, having agreed with his Croatian colleague that bilateral relations were very good, he stressed that Belgium supported Croatia on its path towards full membership of the European Union.
