The Government of the Republic of Croatia appointed Andrej Plenković, the new State Secretary for European Integration

Andrej Plenković has been a professional diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration from 1994. He has an MSc in international law, and since 2005 he has been the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in France. He was deputy Head of Mission of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union in Brussels (2002 – 2005), the Head of Department for European Integration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (1997- 2001), he was a member of the Negotiating Team for the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and participated in preparations for the submission of the application of the Republic of Croatia for membership of the European Union.

As part of the activities of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the tasks of the State Secretary for European Integration will comprise the completion of the process of accession to the European Union, the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, the participation in the dialogue with institutions of the European Union and Member States, the overall alignment with the European Union legal system, the continuation of the communication campaign on the Union, and comprehensive preparations of the Republic of Croatia for activities within the European Union.
