Both parties expressed their satisfaction with excellent and friendly bilateral relations and with open dialogue between officials and experts from the two countries.

The exchanged information about cooperation with the European Union and expressed support to each other in the process of rapprochement to the Union. Minister Jandroković updated his colleague on the current status of closed and open chapters in the negotiation process with the European Union and expressed his opinion that all the necessary preconditions for the completion of negotiations by the end of this year had been created.

He reminded him that the Republic of Croatia is willing to offer advice to the Republic of Albania on is path towards membership of the European Union. Both parties agreed with the thesis that Croatian membership of the European Union would open the path to other countries from the South Eastern Europe towards full EU membership.

Discussing the status of economic cooperation between the two countries, they agreed that additional efforts should be invested to improve this cooperation. They expressed their mutual interest for the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway, and Minister Jandroković said that Croatian businessmen are interested in participating in infrastructure projects, in particular those in the transport and energy sectors. They both expressed the need to organise a meeting of the Intergovernmental Conference on Economic Cooperation.

They also talked about the cooperation between the two countries within NATO, and within multilateral organisations and agreed that the cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Albania as part of the American-Ionian Charter and other regional initiatives and fora is very constructive. A special emphasis was placed on the fact that the two countries, as members of NATO, have a common interest to contribute to the improvement of stability, security and cooperation in South Eastern Europe.
