State Secretary and prime minister’s special envoy for South Eastern Europe Davor Božinović held political consultations in Sofia with Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Milen Lyutskanov, met with Deputy Foreign Minister Konstantin Dimitrov

State Secretary Božinović informed the Bulgarian side about the status of the negotiation process and the activities the Croatian Government is undertaking to finish it as soon as possible, with a special emphasis on the judicial reform, the cooperation with the ICTY, and combating corruption and organized crime.

Deputy Foreign Minister Lyutskanov and his colleague Dimitrov pointed out that Bulgaria fully supports the completion of Croatia’s negotiations as soon as possible, expressing satisfaction and reverence that with this process too, along with NATO membership, Croatia had proven its reform leadership. As before, Bulgaria will share its experiences regarding the complex of joining the EU.

The collocutors stressed the excellent bilateral relations, unburdened by outstanding issues, as well as the possibility of continuing the cooperation though various international bodies. They also exchanged opinions about the current situation in the region of South Eastern Europe and the Black Sea, communicating their respective countries’ wishes to strengthen the ties though better linking these two important regions as well.
