State Secretary Davor Božinović met with Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India Vivek Katju

Both parties in the meeting confirmed the good bilateral relations and expressed the wish to continue with their strengthening, especially in terms of economic cooperation.

State Secretary Božinović presented Croatia’s foreign policy priorities and explained the complex process of Croatia’s EU accession negotiations. Talking about the contribution of the Republic of Croatia to international security, he pointed out the country’s importance in improving the security situation in Afghanistan, where both India and Croatia, within the frameworks of their respective capacity, and together with other allies, are making great efforts to bring stability and ensure prosperity of the Afghan peoples.

Secretary Katju expressed India’s wish to intensify economic cooperation with Croatia and hope that the planned high level bilateral visits would contribute to this. He expressed great interest in the situation in the South East European region, especially in the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

State Secretary Božinović informed his collocutor about the activities Croatia was taking to further improve the friendly relations will all countries in the region, and about the assistance it was providing to these countries in their Euro-Atlantic integration process.

Secretary Katju pointed out India’s efforts in trying to preserve the stability in its region and to improve the very complex relations in its neighbouring states, and he reported in detail about the current situation in Afghanistan, as well as the endeavours to help build civil society in that country. The Indian State secretary explained the importance of India’s cooperation with major world powers such as China and Russia, and he also mentioned the relations between India and Iran.
