In his presentation, Chairman Matušić outlined the parliamentary contributions to the development of Croatia’s key foreign-policy and development priorities in respect to its NATO candidacy and membership, as well as to the completion of the EU membership negotiations. He explained the particularities of the Croatian MPs’ work in the Council of Europe’s bodies as part of the preparation process for working in the European Parliament. He also talked about the challenges of communicating with the EU institutions once the Lisbon Treaty is accepted, as well as about the Foreign Policy Committee’s procedure of approving the appointments of Croatia’s ambassadors.

After a tour of the Parliament’s historical premises, 40 odd young diplomats and other state bodies’ officials attended from the gallery a part of the Parliament’s regular sessions.
