The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the two countries’ traditionally friendly bilateral relations, especially in light of the fact that Iceland was the first country to officially recognize Croatia

The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the two countries’ traditionally friendly bilateral relations, especially in light of the fact that Iceland was the first country to officially recognize Croatia. They also expressed that the visit by the Iceland’s parliament speaker, as the first official visit by a high Icelandic official to Croatia, would contribute to the further strengthening of relations. Agreeing that Croatia and Iceland share a lot of interests, namely in regard to the EU accession, the collocutors exchanged information about the current state of the two countries’ EU accession processes.

Both sides expressed interest in the further intensification of cooperation in all of the areas, namely in economy. It was pointed out that there are numerous possibilities and potential of business connections, primarily in fishery, tourism and exchange of opinions regarding the use of renewable energy sources.

The collocutors also exchanged opinions about the state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, agreeing that the Euro-Atlantic perspective is the only guarantee of the region’s stability and progress.
