Minister Jandroković announced during Abu Dhabi Economic Forum that Croatia is soon to reach decision on opening diplomatic and consular representation in one of Gulf countries

In his speech, Minister Jandroković pointed out that the visa regime represents an obstacle to the further enhancement and development of mutual economic relations

In his speech, Minister Jandroković pointed out that the visa regime represents an obstacle to the further enhancement and development of mutual economic relations. Therefore, as of late, all businessmen and investors visiting Croatia are issued visas through a speedy procedure. It was pointed out that the distance from Cairo, from which the Gulf countries are covered, hinders a more intensive business activity with Croatia. In that regard, he told the economic representatives of the United Arab Emirates and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce that this obstacle too would be removed shortly and that Croatia plans to open a diplomatic and consular representation in one of the Gulf countries. On one hand, that will simplify tourist travels and investing in Croatia, and on the other facilitate the Croatian businessmen’s appearance in the Gulf countries.

Speaking about the development of bilateral trade, which in 2008 totaled USD 128 million, Minister Jandroković said there are many opportunities and areas that could interest the present and future partners from the United Arab Emirates, inviting them to strengthen their role on the Croatian market. As potential areas of cooperation he pointed out the oil and energy sector, food, chemical and timber industry, shipbuilding, and tourism. The Croatian ports and free economic zones are ready for cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, whether it is directed at the Croatian market or towards markets of the EU, added Minister Jandroković.

After the minister’s speech, the Croatian businessmen presented the different investment and business opportunities with subjects in the Republic of Croatia.
