Thirteen-year-old Apolonija Lučić from Delnice won the bronze prize for her drawing Magic, while Agata Lučić was awarded an honorary mention for In My Hands. For Apolonija Lučić this is the third award in a row: last year she won an honorary mention, and the year before the gold prize.

This year’s contest, organized by the Japanese IE-NO-HIKARI Association, saw 51,918 entries from 68 countries, of which 76 were from Croatia. After two rounds of judging, 300 works were selected and published in a catalogue, among which the ones by the two Croatian students.

At the awards ceremony held in Tokyo March 27th 2009, a letter of gratitude was presented to the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to Japan for its cooperation.
