The cancellation of visas comes into force immediately. Croatian citizens will now be able to enter and stay in Canada for up to 6 months without a visa.

Minister Kenney said that the decision to cancel visas is a sign that the Canadian Government has recognized Croatia’s growing importance on the international scene, adding that its was facilitated by Croatia’s pending NATO membership and participation in NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan together with the Canadian contingent. He also pointed out that Croatia has made a significant economic and political progress, faring better in the visa cancellation technical study than some countries of central Europe who have had visas cancelled in 2008, such as Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.
