MFAEI welcomes announcement by Canadian Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney on soon cancellation of visas for Croatian citizens

The canceling of visas for holders of Croatian passports will remove the last remaining obstacle in the full and free communication between the citizens of Croatia and Canada

The canceling of visas for holders of Croatian passports will remove the last remaining obstacle in the full and free communication between the citizens of Croatia and Canada. We fully share Minister Kenney’s opinion that Canada’s visa-free regime will greatly stimulate the overall bilateral cooperation between Croatia and Canada, which should especially reflect on the economic relations, which are showing a positive upward trend.

We are pleased that the Canadian Government has recognized the positive results in reforms, as well as the progress Croatia has achieved in the past period. Along with the swift ratification of the Protocol on NATO Enlargement to Croatia, this announcement means Canada has now formally confirmed it considers the Republic of Croatia an equal and desirable partner.

The Canadian Government’s decision to cancel visas is a great diplomatic success in the bilateral relations between Croatia and Canada. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is convinced that it will significantly contribute to the further development of the two countries’ good relations and cooperation.
