Minister Gordan Jandroković received members of Swedish Parliament’s EU Affairs Committee, led by its Chairwoman Anna Kinberg Batra

Minister Jandroković and Chairwoman Batra expressed satisfaction with the two countries’ bilateral relations, describing them as very good and friendly. Minister Jandroković thanked for Sweden’s strong support for Croatia’s EU accession, as well as for the professional and financial assistance.

He informed the Swedish MPs about the state of the negotiations, pointing out that Croatia is not discouraged by the current situation and Slovenia’s blockade. He emphasized Croatia’s determination to maintain the negotiating dynamic and complete them by end-2009, during the Swedish presidency.

He reiterated Croatia’s position that the accession negotiations and the border issue are tow separate processes and should be approached as such, rather than let them affect Croatia’s EU and NATO accession.

Minister Jandroković also said that Croatia is determined to carry on with the reforms in justice and public administration, and the fight against corruption and organized crime, as well as with the full cooperation with the International Court of Justice. He pointed out Croatia’s readiness to fulfill all of its remaining obligations within the set deadlines.

In regard to Croatia’s NATO accession, he said Croatia expects to participate in the forthcoming NATO Summit in Strasbourg/Kehl as its full-fledged member.
