State Secretary Bianca Matković met with NATO representatives visiting Croatia

State Secretary for Political Affairs and head of the Croatian delegation for NATO accession negotiations Bianca Matković met February 6th 2009 in Zagreb with NATO representatives who are visiting Croatia to monitor the implementation of the reforms that are a part of Croatia’s NATO accession process

State Secretary Matković informed NATO team members that the ratification of the Protocol on NATO Enlargement to Croatia is progressing in accordance with the planned tempo, with only 6 of the 26 NATO members left to ratify it. She expressed her conviction that Croatia would join NATO in April, at the commemoration of its 60th anniversary at the summit in Strasbourg and Kehl. She added that until then, Croatia would continue to carry out the remaining reforms and initiatives.

Members of the NATO team expressed satisfaction with the efficient implementation of the previous reforms, pointing out the progress in the justice reform, the fight against corruption and organized crime, as well as the refugee and property return.

State Secretary Matković said that the Croatian public’s support for the NATO accession has never been higher, which the NATO team members expressed satisfaction with.
