By doing so, Belgium became the 19th of the 26 NATO members to ratify the Protocol, following Hungary, Latvia, the United States of America, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Turkey, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Italy, and the UK, Canada, and Germany.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration considers Belgium’s ratification an important step forward in the overall process of Croatia’s NATO accession, and firmly believes that Croatia is ready to assume a larger responsibility in global relations, taking on a more active role, as well as a more prominent position in the international community.
