On that occasion, Željko Kuprešak, Chairman of the EXPO 2008 National Committee, handed letters of gratitude to representatives of the partners, sponsors, donors, media, and other institutions and individuals who contributed with their engagement to Croatia’s successful appearance at EXPO Zaragoza 2008.

Croatia’s appearance at EXPO 2008 is its fourth appearance at world fairs. The Croatian pavilion in Zaragoza entitled A Drop of Water, a Grain of Salt, designed by Damir Fabijanić, Dalibor Martinis and Studio 3LHD, was visited by around 400,000 visitors, including a number of dignitaries from Croatia and other participant countries. The highlight was the marking of Croatia’s National Day 29 June 2008. The Croatian delegation was headed by President Stjepan Mesić, who opened the exhibition Maritime Affairs in the Croatian Adriatic, set up at the recently-opened city exhibit space Cubit. The occasional cultural-artistic program saw the Liberdance dance ensemble and Klapa Sinj. The invitees were also shown a short film about Croatia’s appearance at EXPO 2008.

The ceremonies, among others, were also attended by MFAEI State Secretary Maja Vrtarić, Zaragoza Deputy Mayor Pilar Alcober, Culture Advisor to the Croatian President Maja Kocijan, and Zagreb Deputy Mayor Ljiljana Kuhta Jeličić.
