Present at the promotion ceremony were Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivajlo Kalfin, Director of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute Milan Milanov, Croatian Ambassador to Bulgaria Dražen Vukov Colić, and the book’s translator Rumjana Božilova, along with numerous guests from the diplomatic corps in Sofia, representatives of the Bulgarian Science Academy, and other dignitaries from Bulgaria’s political, cultural, and public life.

Minister Kalfin presented in short the life and art of Ivan Hoić, pointing out the book’s continuing relevance. He especially noted the historical ties between the Croatian and Bulgarian people, adding that the current relations between Croatia and Bulgaria are growing ever more dynamic and substantial, and pointing out the importance of their expansion from the political onto the economic, cultural, and scientific level.

Ambassador Vukov Colić placed the translation of the book in the context of the long traditional connectedness between the two nations, especially in the cultural, intellectual, and political sense. “These ties are even more important today”, said Ambassador Vukov Colić, “as they continue under the same European roof, where the close Croats and Bulgarians can bring with a lot of valid pride additional cultural and civilization values”.
