State Secretary Bianca Matković held political consultations with Moroccan MFA State Secretary Latife Akharbach

The two collocutors expressed satisfaction with the good relations between Croatia and Morocco, as well as with the cooperation on the bi- and multilateral level

The two collocutors expressed satisfaction with the good relations between Croatia and Morocco, as well as with the cooperation on the bi- and multilateral level. They also expressed a wish for the continuation of regular political consultations and organizing high-level interstate visits.

The meeting discussed the enhancement of economic cooperation and mentioned the possibility of organizing an economic forum to present the Moroccan entrepreneurs the potentials of Croatia’s economy. State Secretary Akharbach pointed out the existing interest among the Moroccan businessmen for cooperation in shipbuilding and tourism, and invited the Croatian investors to invest in Morocco, especially in construction and infrastructure.

State Secretary Matković informed her collocutor with the actualities in the processes of Croatia’s accession to the Euro-Atlantic structures. She drew attention to the European Commission’s Croatia Progress Report published last week, which is the most positive thus far, pointing out the receiving of an indicative schedule for the completion of the negotiations by end-2009. She also emphasized that Croatia is expected to become a full-fledged NATO member by next summit in Spring-2009.

The meeting also discussed the state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, with State Secretary Matković pointing out that Croatia, as a factor of stability, is doing its utmost to assist other countries in the region on their way to the Euro-Atlantic integration. State Secretary Akharbach shared the most recent information regarding Morocco’s relations with the neighbouring countries.
