Ambassador Drago Štambuk receives Grand Prix for best Japan photography

Croatian Ambassador to Japan and the Republic of Korea Drago Štambuk was handed in Tokyo, at the ceremonial opening of the 11th traditional exhibition “Japan Through Diplomats’ Eyes”, the Grand Prix for the best Japan photography

Organized by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and attended by its patron and initiator Princess Takamado, jury head and former foreign minister Nobutaka Machimura, and numerous ambassadors and experts, the exhibition featured photographs by 54 foreign diplomats from 36 countries.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with a foreword by former foreign minister Machimura, pointing out the affection foreign diplomats show towards Japan, as well as a write-up by current Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone, emphasizing foreigners’ photographic discoveries that the Japanese hardly ever notice anymore.
