As part of his official visit, Minister Jandroković met with Senate Speaker Francisco Javier Rojo García. The exceptionally cordial and friendly meeting was preceded by the signing of the Senate’s Golden Book of Impressions. The two collocutors pointed out the excellent bilateral co-operation with no outstanding issues. They talked about Croatia’s EU and NATO accession, and Minister Jandroković thanked the Spanish side for the support it is extending Croatia along that path.

Talking about the ratification of the Protocol on NATO Extension to Croatia by the members’ parliaments, Minister Jandroković said that a full-fledged EU membership is one of Croatia’s foreign-policy priorities and emphasized our wish for the speeding up of the process.

Senate Speaker Rojo pointed out that Croatia will continue to enjoy full support from the Spanish side and that there is no reason the ratification of the Protocol on Croatia’s Accession should not be carried out within the foreseen deadlines.

Discussing economy, Minister Jandroković familiarised Senate Speaker Rojo with the process of privatizing the Croatian shipyards and invited Spanish investors to join the process. The two also talked about the current situation in South Eastern Europe.

As the region’s leader, Croatia is interested in maintaining the peace and stability in Europe’s southeast, Minister Jandroković added, pointing out that the Euro-Atlantic perspective is its best guarantee for peace and stability.

As part of his visit to Spain, Minister Jandroković gave an interview to the esteemed Spanish newspaper El Pais regarding Croatia’s EU and NATO accession, current state of affairs in the region, and Croatia’s relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
