State Secretary Davor Božinović met with attendees of minority information seminar

In a talk with the attendees, State Secretary Božinović was informed about the seminar’s content, designed for members of the Croatian minorities dealing with media, held during the last two days in Zagreb and organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT). The primary goals of the seminar was to inform minority members with the minority information activities in Croatia, as was attended by members of the Croatian minorities from Austria, Montenegro, Italy, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Serbia. The idea to organise the seminar came from systematic monitoring of the position of the Croatian national minorities in European countries, regular contacts with their representatives, and recognising the issues of minority media representation.

State Secretary Božinović positively described the initiative to organise this kind of seminar, pointing out that it is of exceptional importance to the minority representatives in their further work, and preservation of the Croatian language and culture. He also supported the proposal to organise seminars on both information and media activities, and the Croatian language, which would greatly contribute to their professional and lingual training. He thanked the attendees for their suggestions and information about the issues they deal with in the countries they come from. He pointed out that Croatia, in caring for the Croatian national minorities in European countries, allocates financial means yearly from the national budget for supporting Croatian minority associations. He also stressed that the Ministry will continue to assist members of the Croatian minority abroad.

The seminar attendees yesterday visited HRT, where they were familiarised with the national minorities and diaspora program, as well as the Europa Press Holding center.
