State Secretary for Political Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Bianca Matković met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Sarybay today, on 19 September 2008
State Secretary Matković underlined that bilateral relations between the two countries were developing successfully and that the conclusion of the Agreement on this day was an encouragement for further strengthening of cooperation, especially in the field of the economy. State Secretary stated that a number of Croatian firms were already successfully working in Kazakhstan in the fields of energy, civil engineering, transport and commerce, and also drew attention to other Croatian economic potentials, such as shipbuilding and tourism. State Secretary Matković also said that an international economic forum with the aim to better present the economy of the two countries could be held in Zagreb. Deputy Minister Sarybay expressed support for the initiative, adding that Kazakhstani businessmen were interested in investing into Croatia.
Referring to the context of the situation in the region State Secretary Marković underlined that Croatia had undoubtedly become a factor of stability in the area and that, as such, it provided assistance to other countries on their path to Euro-Atlantic integrations.
State Secretary for European Integration Davor Božinović, Ph. D., held political consultations with Deputy Minister Sarybay and the Kazakhstani delegation wherein he introduced them to the process of accession of the Republic of Croatia into Euro Atlantic integrations. They also discussed other forms of developing diplomatic relations and the possibility to open diplomatic missions of both countries.
