State Secretary Željko Kuprešak participating in SEECP foreign ministers’ meeting in Pomorie, Bulgaria

State Secretary for European Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Željko Kuprešak is participating today, 20 May 2008, in the meeting of SEECP foreign ministers, held in Pomorie, Bulgaria. The meeting is being held on the eve of the meeting of SEECP heads of state and government, in which Vice-Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor will participate on behalf of the Croatian Government

The host of today’s meeting is Bulgarian Vice-Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin, as SEECP Chairman-in-Office, while its participants include representatives of the European Commission, Secretary General of the Regional Co-operation Council Hido Biščević, and Stability Pact’s Special Co-ordinator Erhard Busek.

The meeting’s participants discussed the situation in South Eastern Europe, pointing out the importance of regional co-operation and good-neighbourly relations as the key factors in establishing trust, stability and security in the region, thus contributing to its integration into the EU and NATO. In that regard, they emphasized the role of SEECP as the principal political form of co-operation. A special gratitude was extended to Mr. Busek and the staff of the Stability Pact’s Secretariat for their dedicated work and support for the region’s countries in their setting up of democracy, market economy and the rule of law. The participants agreed that the process of establishing the Secretariat of the Regional Co-operation Council (RCC) in Sarajevo was successfully brought to completion and expressed their support for the 2008-2009 RCC Strategic Activity Programme.
