Minister Gordan Jandroković participated in final meeting of Stability Pact’s Regional Table and inaugural meeting of RCC in Sofia

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković participated on 27 February 2008 in Sofia in the final meeting of the Regional Table of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe and the inaugural meeting of the Regional Co-operation Council (RCC)

The meeting, which saw the participation of SEE countries’ foreign ministers and representatives of the EU, NATO, OSCE and other international organisations and world’s monetary institutions, was held under the joint chairmanship of Erhard Busek, the Stability Pact’s Special Co-ordinator, and Hido Biščević, the Secretary General of the RCC. On that occasion, Minister Jandroković pointed out that setting up the RCC will enhance the co-operation on projects of regional importance, which will facilitate further development and progress of all SEE countries. In that regard, he emphasized that Croatia’s priorities will be the further development of good-neighbourly relations, enhancement of economic co-operation, and combating organised crime, corruption and terrorism.

The meeting’s participants adopted the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of the Regional Co-operation Council, which officially marked its inception. The present 30 odd regional co-operation initiatives will be more efficiently organised through six key areas co-ordinated by the RCC: economic and social development, infrastructure, justice and internal affairs, co-operation in security, development of human capital, and parliamentary co-operation.
