Croatian Ambassador Dražen Margeta handed on 4 December 2007 his credentials to Foreign Minister of the Syrian Arab Republic Walid Mualem, officially assuming the duty of ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to the Syrian Arab Republic, seated in Cairo
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the bilateral relations between Croatia and Syria, as well as a hope for their enhancement, especially in economy and education, in the form of the return of Syrian students to the Croatian universities, which would contribute to the development of co-operation between the two countries.
