Minister Grabar-Kitarović met with Montenegrin Foreign Minister Milan Roćen

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović met on 26 October 2007 in Opatija with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Montenegro Milan Roćen

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the level and dynamics of relations development between the two countries after the establishment of diplomatic relations and opening of embassies, while Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointed out that the determining role in these relations is played by a mutual Euro-Atlantic orientation and the interest to solidify the co-operation and security in the Adriatic.

Commending the successful completion of Montenegro’s negotiations on signing the Stabilisation ad Association Agreement with the EU, the Minister communicated the Croatian side’s readiness to develop versatile and intensive bilateral relation, expressing her conviction that that will contribute to a permanent consolidation of the two countries’ co-operation in the interest of peace, stability and development. Minister Grabar-Kitarović also congratulated on the recent adopting of the Constitution of the Republic of Montenegro, while Minister Roćen congratulated Croatia on its election as a non-permanent Security Council member.

Both sides expressed the willingness to solve the remaining outstanding issues in the spirit of friendship and good-neighbourliness. The meeting also reviewed the issues of intensifying the economic co-operation, namely in tourism and transport infrastructure. The two ministers also exchanged opinions on the current political situation in South Eastern Europe.
