The participants pointed out the importance of signing said agreement as a legal basis for its functioning. They also stressed the importance of regional co-operation and the setting up of the RCC, which contributes to a lasting stabilisation of South Eastern Europe and the process of integrating the region’s countries into the EU and NATO.
The ceremony was preceded by the first meeting of the RCC Committee, held on Tuesday in Sarajevo, which saw the participation of the representatives of South Eastern European countries, the European Commission, and the donators. The meeting expressed satisfaction with the results in establishing the RCC and stated support for further steps in co-ordinating the appointed RCC Secretary General and the Stability Pact’s Special Co-ordinator.
