State Secretary Pejčinović Burić participated in conference “Croatia’s Role in United Europe”

The conference was held within the context of the development of Croatia-EU relations, with the aim of better informing the Croatian citizens about the various aspects of the European integration process. Conceived as a discussion on regions’ contribution to the Euro-integration processes, as well as the challenges and possibilities awaiting Croatia in the united Europe, the conference gathered eminent names from the religious, political, diplomatic and economic life of Croatia and Europe.

Opening the one-day conference, State Secretary Pejčinović Burić pointed out in her speech the importance of the support of all social factors in reforming and building a society of prosperity, knowledge, and tolerance. “Religious communities, which in their very foundation promote the values of unity, respect and tolerance, as well as human rights in general, are an important partner of the Croatian Government in this process. That is why this conference is of special importance as an opportunity to exchange opinions that are sure to contribute to a better understanding of EU-related topics”, said State Secretary Pejčinović Burić.

The first part of the conference offered a debate on the role and contribution of the Church and religions in the Euro-integration processes, while the latter part saw the exchange of opinions on the topic of “European integration – challenges and possibilities”.

The conference was sponsored by the Croatian Government, the European Commission, and the Croatian branch of the World Conference of Religions for Peace.
