Minister Grabar-Kitarović participated at International Summer Seminar “NATO – Past, Present, and Future”

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović participated on 31 August 2007 at the International Summer Seminar entitled “NATO – Past, Present, and Future”, where she held a speech under the title “Croatia on the Euro-Atlantic Path”

Taking part at the International Summer Seminar on the island of Šipan, organised by the NATO Public Diplomacy Division and the Atlantic Council of Croatia, Minister Grabar-Kitarović, representatives of MFAEI, professors from the Faculty of Political Science, and the organisers’ representatives spoke about the role and importance of the North Atlantic Alliance, the decision-making processes and historical dimension, as well as the present and the future of the Alliance.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović held a speech entitled “Croatia on the Euro-Atlantic Path”. Pointing out the full EU and NATO membership, as well as good-neighbourly relations and co-operation with the neighbouring countries, as Croatia’s strategic foreign policy goals, Minister Grabar-Kitarović said that Croatia supports the accession of all of the region’s countries to the Euro-Atlantic integration She noted Croatia’s contribution to 17 international peacekeeping missions of the UN, EU and NATO, and spoke about the importance of and Croatia’s long-term dedication to ISAF – the most important and complex peacekeeping mission in NATO’s history. As regards Croatia’s contribution to the building of the Afghan society, Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointed out the assistance to the women’s school in Kabul, the education of an Afghan diplomat at the MFAEI Diplomatic Academy, and the visit by women representatives of the Afghan Ministry of Women’s Affairs to Croatia.
