MFAEI to open book of condolences on occasion of death of Frane Vinko Golem

On the occasion of the death of Frane Vinko Golem, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will open the book of condolences on 16 August 2007 from 2-4 PM and on 17 August 2007 from 10-16 PM, in the lobby of the Ministry, 7-8 N. Š. Zrinski Square.

Mr. Golem, Croatia’s second foreign minister, performed the ministerial duty from 8 November 1990 to 3 May 1991, actively contributing to the process of gaining independence and the forming of the new state. As the minister, he was also responsible for opening Croatia’s first offices abroad. He continued to give his contribution to the creation of the new state after becoming Croatia’s plenipotentiary representative to Washington, fighting for the US recognition of Croatia, which ensued on 7 April 1992.

For his social activities, Mr. Golem has received numerous awards, among them the 1991-1992 Homeland War Memorial and the 1990-1992 Homeland War Order of Merit.
