State Secretary for European Integration Marija Pejcinovic-Buric received on Wednesday 23 May 2007 President of the International Criminal Court Philip Kirsch

State Secretary Pejcinovic-Buric and the President of the International Criminal Court Kirsch both pointed out their mutual satisfaction with the development of cooperation of the Republic of Croatia with the International Criminal Court.

State Secretary Pejcinovic-Buric said that the Republic of Croatia was the first country in Southeast Europe to ratify the Rome Statute on the basis of which the International Criminal Court was founded and by doing this the Republic of Croatia offered strong support to the foundation and start of functioning of the Court.

Both sides mentioned that by adopting the new and amended national criminal legislation in force Croatia has already secured the necessary legislative framework for efficient implementation of the Rome Statute and complementary functioning between the national criminal judicature and the International Criminal Court. President of the International Criminal Court Kirsch also expressed satisfaction with the current progress of the Republic of Croatia in this field.

President Kirsch informed State Secretary Pejcinovic-Buric on current activities of the International Criminal Court and expressed belief that the successful cooperation would continue in the future.
