Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in official visit to People's Republic of China and Hong Kong

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic is in an official visit to the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong, where on Wednesday, 23 May 2007 she met with Secretary General of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong Rafael Hui

In her talk with Secretary General Rafael Hui, Minister Grabar-Kitarovic and Secretary General pointed out that cooperation with this part of the People's Republic China has been initiated in different fields and that there is space and mutual desire for intensifying relations between the two countries. Both parties concluded that the level of cooperation in the fields of economy and culture is good. Croatian side considers cooperation with Hong Kong as very important, especially in terms of economy, while Minister emphasized potentials for tourism development and expressed satisfaction with increased interest in Croatia as a tourist destination.

Minister Grabar-Kitarovic expressed satisfaction to Secretary General Rafael Hui with the opening and efforts of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in Hong Kong in establishing and strengthening connections with the Republic of Croatia. She particularly pointed out personal merits of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to Hong Kong Sir Gordon Wu.

Minister Grabar-Kitarovic also awarded Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to Hong Kong, Sir Gordon Wu, with the Order of Danica Hrvatska with Blaž Lorkovic's image, which has been awarded to him by the President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesic for outstanding contribution in the development of trade, culture and other relations and cooperation in the field of tourism between the Republic of Croatia and Hong Kong.
