Minister Grabar-Kitarović met with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivailo Georgiev Kalfin

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović met on 10 May 2007 with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ivailo Georgiev Kalfin, at the margins of the Meeting of SEECP Foreign Ministers held in Zagreb

Minister Grabar-Kitarović and Minister Kalfin expressed their satisfaction with the stable and friendly relations between Croatia and Bulgaria, which are with no open issues. They agreed that there is room for deepening the bilateral relations in the area of trade and investment, as well as in certain aspects of the economic co-operation.

Discussing the situation in the region, the ministers exchanged views on the current issues concerning the attainment of the highest possible level of regional stability and reviewed the co-operation processes and initiatives between the two countries. In that regard, Minister Kalfin congratulated Croatia for a successful closure of SEECP presidency and presented the priorities of Bulgaria’s presidency.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed her collocutor about the current state of Croatia’s EU negotiations. The Bulgarian side reiterated its continual support for Croatia’s EU and NATO membership, which Minister Grabar-Kitarović expressed her gratitude for and added that Croatia expects to receive the NATO membership invitation soon.
