MFAEI expresses satisfaction and approval on occasion of Stormont’s first session and swearing in of Northern Ireland’s new Government

On the occasion of the first session of the Northern Ireland’s new Parliament (Stormont) and the swearing in of the new Government, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration would like to express its satisfaction and approval, noting that this is a historical event opening up a perspective of a permanent solution, with the overcoming of the long-lasting and deep divisions in Northern Ireland

On the occasion of the first session of the Northern Ireland’s new Parliament (Stormont) and the swearing in of the new Government, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration would like to express its satisfaction and approval, noting that this is a historical event opening up a perspective of a permanent solution, with the overcoming of the long-lasting and deep divisions in Northern Ireland. The reconstruction of Northern Ireland’s institutions represents a crucial step forward towards opening the possibilities of a true reconciliation and laying the foundation of a joint future for all Northern Ireland’s citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is convinced that the institution reconstruction will facilitate an efficient Government, as its members have assumed the duty of serving the wellbeing of all Northern Ireland’s citizens, which represents a true coming to life of the values of mutual respect and good will. This event is the crown achievement of many who for a long time have dedicatedly worked on achieving a lasting peace in Northern Ireland.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration considers this to be a brave and far-reaching decision that will prove to be of historical importance for the people of Northern Ireland.
