The holding of the Session is a confirmation of the highly developed relations between the two countries. In its preparation, the two state secretaries and their co-operatives agreed on the topics and agreements intended to be signed during its holding.
One of the topics will be the issue of the position of the Croatian and Hungarian minority living in the two countries. Within that context, Assistant Minister at the Directorate for Croatian Minorities, Emigration and Immigration Mirjana Bohanec Vidović, led the Croatian delegation at the 9th session of the Croatian-Hungarian Mixed Committee for Minorities, held on 2 May 2007 in Zagreb.
Along with Assistant Minister Bohanec Vidović, the Mixed Committee was co-presided from the Hungarian side by State Secretary Ferenc Gémesi.
During its plenary session, the representatives of the Mixed Committee discussed the respective protection of the minorities as well as the current issues of the position of the Croatian and Hungarian minority living in the two countries, and reviewed the implementation of the recommendations that the Committee has reached at its previous sessions. They also reached priority and long-term recommendations. The session was ended with the signing of the Minutes, signed from the Croatian side by Assistant Minister Bohanec Vidović and from the Hungarian side by State Secretary Gémesi.
