State Secretary Marija Pejčinović Burić held in the Slovak Republic Slovak-Croatian consultation on accession negotiations chapter 30 – External Relations

State Secretary for European Integration Marija Pejčinović Burić held on Tuesday, 24 April 2007 in the Slovak Republic Slovak-Croatian consultation on accession negotiations chapter 30 – External Relations

The first part of the consultation, which referred to development and humanitarian help, was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic. The Slovak delegation was led by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Olga Algayerova.

After the first part of the consultation State Secretary Pejčinović Burić and State Secretary Algayerova held a bilateral meeting during which they both stressed very good political relations without any open issues between the two countries. It was also pointed out that politicians' meetings at the highest levels are frequent and held on regular basis and that there is room for intensifying resource ministers' meetings as well as those on lower, expert levels, particularly in order to transfer Slovak experience in the process of accession to the EU and NATO.

The second part of the consultation was held with representatives of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, led by State Secretary Ivan Rybarik. The meeting topic was experience in adjusting the national system to common trade policy of the European Union and harmonization of international bilateral agreements in the process of accession to the European Union.

State Secretary Pejčinović Burić expressed appreciation to the Slovak Republic for the support that it has been giving to the Republic of Croatia in terms of accession to the EU and NATO and the readiness to transfer its experience. State Secretary Pejčinović Burić expressed satisfaction with the fact that the relations between the two countries are developing in constant political dialogue.
