Croatian and French Governments signed Program of Cultural, Educational, University, Scientific, and Institutional Co-operation

On Thursday, 22 March 2007, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Co-operation, the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the French Republic signed the Program of Cultural, Educational, University, Scientific and Institutional Co-operation for 2007, 2008, and 2009

The French Republic has designated Croatia as a priority co-operation country from South Eastern Europe. Both sides are very pleased with the meeting of the last three-year program’s guidelines, with good results expected in the following period as well.

The Program is a continuation and extension of the bilateral co-operation and confirms the importance of dialogue and the two countries’ joint action in preserving the cultural and language diversity, with a special emphasis on the process of Croatia’s EU accession and the monitoring status at the International Organisation of la Francophonie.

The Program encompasses cultural, educational, university, and scientific co-operation, and is an extension of the co-operation onto expert, economic, administrative, and institutional co-operation, as an area of special interest for Croatia in its process of EU accession, with the aim of further affirming French in Croatia and Croatian in France, as well as strengthening the cultural exchange between the two countries.

Participating in the Program are 10 ministries, two central state offices, two institutes, and one state administration, as well as the Universities of Zagreb and Split, the Croatian Radio-Television, and Croatian Journalists’ Association.
