Minister Grabar-Kitarović received Ghanaian Ambassador Agyei-Amoama, Qatari Ambassador Mohamed Al-Nesef, Indonesian Ambassador Sihombing, Lithuanian Ambassador Puodžiūnas

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on 8 February 2007 to separate inaugural visits Ghanaian Ambassador seated in Italy Charles Agyei-Amoama, Qatari Ambassador seated in Germany Saleh Mohamed Al-Nesef, Indonesian Ambassador seated in Hungary Mangasi Sihombing, and Lithuanian Ambassador seated in Austria Puodžiūnas

The meeting between Ghanaian Ambassador Agyei-Amoama and Minister Grabar-Kitarović confirmed the existence of good bilateral relations with no open issues, with an emphasis on the need for strengthening the economic co-operation. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the relations between Croatia and Ghana on the multilateral level as well.

The meeting between Minister Grabar-Kitarović and Qatari Ambassador Mohamed Al-Nesef also confirmed the good relation between the two countries, which are without open issues. Trade has intensified, with Croatian companies already doing successful business in Qatar and many Qatari companies showing interest in the increase of the co-operation. Both sides stated expectations that the economic co-operation will continue to intensify.

During the inaugural visit of Indonesian Ambassador Sihombing, both sides expressed satisfaction with the traditionally good bilateral relations, as evidenced by the exchange of the highest-level visits so far, as well as the pending visits by high Croatian and Indonesian officials. The sides also confirmed the good co-operation in the multilateral field, stressing the need for a further intensification of the economic co-operation.

On 7 February 2007, Ambassador Sihombing was also received to inaugural visit by State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević. The two expressed satisfaction with the high level of the political relations between the two countries and State Secretary Biščević familiarised Ambassador Sihombing with the activities Croatia is conducting on its road to Euro-Atlantic integration and the current political situation in South East Europe. The Croatian side expresses condolences for the human and material loss suffered during the recent floods in Indonesia.

During the meeting between Lithuanian Ambassador Puodžiūnas and Minister Grabar-Kitarović, both sides confirmed the existence of very good bilateral relations between the two countries, which are on the rise. The two also discussed NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan, with Minister Grabar-Kitarović informing Ambassador Puodžiūnas about Croatia’s contribution to the mission and the Croatian Parliament’s decision to increase the Croatian contingent. Ambassador Puodžiūnas expressed support for Croatia’s activities on its way to full EU and NATO membership, expressing a wish for the transfer of Lithuania’s experiences in acceding to said associations to continue.
