State Secretary for European Integration Marija Pejčinović Burić received to inaugural visit Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Croatia Hans Jochen Peters today, November 30, 2006

State Secretary Pejčinović Burić and Ambassador Peters expressed their satisfaction with good partner relationship between the Republic of Croatia and the Federal Republic of Germany, a relationship with no open issues.

After stating her belief in good future collaboration, State Secretary Pejčinović Burić introduced Ambassador Peters with the process of accession of the Republic of Croatia to the EU. State Secretary thanked Germany for its constant support to the Republic of Croatia on its way to full EU membership, as well as to the efforts of Croatia for gaining NATO membership.

Ambassador Peters confirmed the support of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Croatian path to full EU and NATO membership. Peters also reported on the preparations of the Federal Republic of Germany for taking over EU presidency in the first half of 2007 and, in this context, on German presidency priorities. Ambassador Peters expressed the desire to resume talks on EU Constitutional Treaty.
