State Secretary Biščević received to inaugural visit German Ambassador Hans Jochen Peters

State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević received 21 November 2006 to inaugural visit the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Croatia, Hans Jochen Peters

The tow confirmed the existence of good and partnership relations between Croatia and Germany, which are without open issues. The German side communicated Germany’s support for Croatia on its way to full EU and NATO membership, with the expectations for the process to intensify during the pending German EU presidency in the first half of 2007.

State Secretary Biščević informed Ambassador Peters about Croatia’s positions on the situation in the region, bilateral relations with the neighbours, and the results of the recent visit by Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader to the US, as well as the priorities of Croatia’s SEECP presidency and the negotiations on the signing of the ness free trade agreement (CEFTA Plus).

Ambassador Peters familiarised State Secretary Biščević with the priorities of the German EU presidency, primarily a wish for the renewal of the debate on the Constitutional Treaty, strengthening of the energy supply policy, and relations between the EU and the Russian Federation.
