Minister Grabar-Kitarović received Chairman of NATO Military Committee, Gen. Raymond Henault

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on Thursday, 26 October 2006, the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, General Raymond Henault

Minister Grabar-Kitarović familiarised Gen. Henault with the main achievements in the process of Croatia’s approaching NATO membership and its expectations from it, as well as Croatia’s engagement in UN peacekeeping missions and NATO-led ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

General Henault expressed great satisfaction with the meetings with Croatian high officials, everything he has seen in Croatia and the positive messages from Croatian officials. He commended the reforms Croatia is conducting on its way to Euro-Atlantic integration membership, pointing out the successfulness of the defence reforms. He especially emphasised Croatia’s contribution to NATO mission in Afghanistan and thanked for the support Croatia is offering to the peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also favourably judged Croatia’s contribution to stabilisation efforts in the region and its co-operation with other members of the US-Adriatic Charter, stressing the fact that Croatia has grown from a peacekeeping missions recipient to a security provider.

General Raymond Henault was on an official visit to Croatia 25-27 October, during which he met with Croatian President Stjepan Mesić, Chairman of the Croatian Parliament’s Domestic Policy and National Security Committee Ivan Jarnjak, Defence Minister Berislav Rončević, and Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Josip Lucić.
