Minister Grabar-Kitarović met with EC Vice-President and Commissioner for Institutional Relations and Communication Strategy Margot Wallström

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda met with Margot Wallström, the Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Institutional Relations and Communication Strategy, during her visit to Brussels, Belgium, 5 October 2006

Minister Grabar-Kitarović presented to EC Vice-President Wallström the Communication Strategy for Informing the Croatian Public about Croatia’s EU Accession, informing her in detail with the activities of communicating with and informing the home and foreign public, informative publications and materials of the MFAEI, publishing and various media activities that the Ministry is conducting in co-operation with its partners for the purposes of better informing the Croatian citizens about the EU, with a special emphasis on the educational aspects, through seminars, workshops, scholarships for postgraduate European studies abroad, etc. Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointed out the need for exploring the possibilities of improving the communication process and the co-operation in that regard between Croatia and the European Commission, though communicating Europe to Croatia and vice versa. Presenting the pan-European design project EUROPA 2020, Minister Grabar-Kitarović and EC Vice-President Wallström agreed on the exhibition being put on in the premises of the European Commission in Brussels.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointed out the youth as the most interesting target group as regards communicating and informing about the European integration, adding that in the future, the focus will be primarily on that category of the Croatian society.

EC Vice-President Wallström stated her support to Croatia’s efforts, stressing her conviction that an optimal way of co-operating between Croatia and the EC will be found out through projects, with the aim of an objective and continual informing of both the Croatian and European citizens.
