State Secretary for European Integration Marija Pejčinović Burić participated as a member of the delegation led by Croatian President Stjepan Mesić at the 11th Summit of the Francophone countries’ heads of state and government, held 28 and 29 September 2006 in Bucharest, Romania
Croatia has enjoyed a monitor status since 2004, and this was the first time it took part in the Summit of the International Organisation of the Francophonie. The activities of IOF cover international policy, economy and co-operation among the members, and the promotion of learning French. The topic of this year’s Summit was the implementation of information technologies in educations.
The International Organisation of the Francophonie has 49 full members, 4 associated members, and 10 monitors. The co-operation is based on the use of a common language and the joint values, such as the nurturing of multilingualism and multiculturalism, human rights, peace, democracy, solidarity, and sustainable development.
