At the margins of the session, Minister Grabar-Kitarović held a series of bilateral meetings.

On Wednesday, 20 September 2006, Minister Grabar-Kitarović met with the representatives of the American Jewish Committee, informing them about Croatia’s foreign policy priorities, the course of the EU and NATO membership negotiations, and Croatia’s participation in peacekeeping operations world-wide. He stressed his satisfaction in particular with Croatian activities in educating about holocaust, anti-Semitism, and all other forms of racial discrimination.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović participated on Wednesday in the ministerial meeting regarding the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). In her speech, Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointed out Croatia’s undeniable support to CTBT and its active role in nuclear disarmament and proliferation prevention. In that regard, she noted the advance test course on the implementation of international control over nuclear tests, held in Croatia in July this year, and the plan to set up a national centre for gathering information. The Republic of Croatia also joined the Joint Ministerial Statement on CTBT.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović met the same day with the foreign ministers of the Dominican Republic, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and Kazakhstan, discussing with her colleagues the possibility of further developing the bilateral relations, especially political and economic, as well as the co-operation within multilateral organisations, namely the UN in the context of Croatia’s candidacy for a non-permanent Security Council member 2008-2009.
