Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović held several bilateral meetings during the international conference Regional Co-operation Challenges 2007/2008, held 8 and 9 September in Zagreb

On Friday, 8 September 2006, Minister Grabar-Kitarović met with Macedonian Vice-Prime Minister Gabrijela Konevska Trajkovska.

The Croatian side congratulated Macedonia on the successfully held parliamentary elections and extended congratulations to the new Macedonian Government. It was pointed out that the two countries share the same goals oriented towards European integration. Minister Grabar-Kitarović expressed Croatia’s readiness to transfer its experiences in acceding to the Euro-Atlantic integration. Vice-Prime Minister Konevska Trajkovska thanked for the congratulations and support, pointing out that her first visit to Croatia in this capacity is also a message from the Macedonian Government for the continuation of the co-operation between the two countries. She added that some of the new Government’s priorities concern regional co-operation and expressed interest for the exchange of opinions and experiences in the process of acceding to the Euro-Atlantic integration. In that regard, it was suggested that a meeting be held between the Croatian and Macedonian expert groups.

On the second day of the conference, 9 September 2006, Minister Grabar-Kitarović met with Montenegrin Foreign Minister Miodrag Vlahović.

The two confirmed the existence of solid bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed the situation in the region. It was pointed out that both countries are interested in co-operation and the exchange of experiences in the Euro-Atlantic integration process, as well as the co-operation in joint cross-border co-operation projects on transport, fire prevention, sea protection, etc. The two countries are also interested in formalising the established diplomatic relations as soon as possible through opening embassies. Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed Minister Vlahović about the progress of Croatia’s EU accession negotiations. Minister Vlahović said that Croatia’s example is inspiring and encouraging for Montenegro’s European ambitions.

On Saturday, 9 September 2009, Minister Grabar-Kitarović also met with Romanian Foreign Minister Mihai-Răzvan Ungureanu. The two confirmed the existence of excellent bilateral relations and expressed readiness to exchange opinions in acceding to the Euro-Atlantic integration. Minister Grabar-Kitarović familiarised Minister Ungureanu with the current events in Croatia’s EU and NATO accession process, and thanked for Romania’s support.

On the same day, Minister Grabar-Kitarović held a bilateral meeting with Macedonian Foreign Minister Antonio Milošoski. The two pointed out their countries’ interest in continuing the successful co-operation. The Croatian side extended congratulations to the new Macedonian Government. Both sides expressed interested in continuing the co-operation in the fields of common interest, namely economy and the exchange of information regarding acceding to NATO, within the activities of the A3 Group, and through the Stabilisation and Association Process. Minister Milošoski invited Minister Grabar-Kitarović to pay an official visit to Macedonia.
